Leadership Corner

Financial Cautionary Tales for Nonprofits
The sector is full of stories about how organizations got themselves in a world of financial hurt. Some of these situations are, of course less than perfectly predictable but some are foreseeable because they are so common. One of the most astute financial analysts in the sector joined Ruth McCambridge in an hour long discussion of familiar financial traps, and how best to immunize your organization against financial woes.

From the Executive Director: The Dog Days of Network Leadership

Hattie and MillieJuly. Here we are in the middle of summer! Are you stopping to enjoy the season, stopping to smell the flowers, have you been to or plan to visit a state or national park, had a picnic, visited friends, been swimming, hiking, or any other summertime activity that would be great to help you recharge your batteries?

Yesterday, as I was working on my article, I decided to unplug from the Internet. I actually took the computer to the back porch, thinking I could give the “girls” (two of which are pictured here) some extra time in the back yard shade and also get some work done. I have thought about doing this several times, but just never followed through on that thought.

July Coffee/Tea Chat

When: Friday, July 25th @ 11:00 AM ET; 10:00 AM CT; 9:00 AM MT; 8:00 AM PT; 7:00 AM AK

Welcome to July and the iced Coffee and Tea Chat with Dr. Chess. We had excellent participation and very intriguing questions that were fielded by network leaders on the June Chat. Looking forth to continuing the interaction and connection of the network leaders across the nation!

The primary focus for our July chat will be: Creating Meaningful Evaluations. How do you know a new business line will succeed? When it comes to evaluation criteria, what are your key stakeholders looking for in monthly or quarterly reports? What are the most effective approaches and tools to use for collecting data? Thank you Lois for suggesting this critical topic. Come prepared to consider the value of evaluations and, other questions that may be top of mind. We look forward to hearing from you all on July 25th.

Call Information was distributed via a Save the Date – if you need the number, please let Rebecca know.
