NCHN Reminders

ORHP has announced additional grantees to receive funding under the Network Development Grant Program. In addition to the 15 awards announced in May, two have been added, including Giles Health Network and City of Clarion (IA). We have heard that there may be additional awards. RAPID Decision Making: What It Is and How to Get the Most Out of It

Most organizations can benefit from RAPID. The keys are: understanding how the tool works, figuring out what your organization needs from RAPID, and assessing whether the timing is right to introduce it. In the next section of this article, we’ll explore what the side effects and trade-offs of using RAPID can be. Then we’ll use the experiences of Aspire Public Schools, a California-based charter-school developer, to illustrate how the tool works. Finally, we’ll step back and consider how to tell if your organization is ready for RAPID and discuss some of the ideal pre-conditions for getting the most out of it.

MiREMSMiREMS Receives RAED Grant Funding

Michigan Rural EMS Network's MiResCu program, in partnership with UP EMS and Mike Helbock (Seattle/King County, WA), has been awarded a Rural Access to Emergency Devices grant throught HRSA's Office of Rural Health Policy. The award provides for $150,000/year for 3 years. The project start date is September 1, 2014. RAED grant funds will be used to place 120 AEDS (40 per year) in communities in rural Michigan.

Marshall III is among the most respected attorneys focusing on the ever-changing field of health-care law.  We are happy to announce that Mr. Marshall will be our guest speaker on the September 15, Quarterly Informational Call. He will be discussing health network organizational management and will provide tips on policies and procedures that network organizations should have in place to keep themselves legal, viable, and adaptable to the ever-changing needs of their membership. New Member: Kreider Services

NCHN is pleased to welcome Kreider Services, Inc. of Dixon, Illinois, as a network member. Kreider was founded in 2012. Its purpose is "to provide supports to children and their families in their local communities to reach their optimal social, emotional, physical and cognitive development through an affordable, accessible, integrated, multi-disciplinary system of care which empowers families and individuals to self advocate." Its programs include early intervention, The Autism Program, behavioral health, physical health, education/training, recreation, family/sibling support groups, resource library, and multi-disciplinary teams. FCC Rural Broadband Experiments
On July 11, 2014, the Commission adopted a $100 million budget for the rural broadband experiments and established an objective methodology for selecting projects among formal applications, which will be due 90 days after release of the order (due date: October 14, 2014)
