UCCS Nursing School Uses Latest Telemedicine Technology with New Students

Clinical teleconferencing platform powers first virtual orientation

Doctorate of Nursing Practice students are experiencing 21st Century health care right from the start at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. This year’s orientation featured the use of secure, “medical grade” teleconferencing which allowed students and faculty to participate in the session from remote locations.

From the Desk of Rebecca Davis, Ph.D.

This morning I was reading the Family & Friends article by Marlo Thomas in the August-September 2013 issue of “AARPThe Magazine” and thought how appropriate for network leaders: The School of Life: When your education ends, the learning really begins.

Ms. Thomas talks about how she loved school and considered herself a pretty good student. I bet most of you reading this article feels the same way, that you were pretty good students when you were in elementary school. And as Network Leaders, I bet you are finding that you learn something new almost every day. I know I do, especially from other network leaders.

Wednesday, September 18 @ 12:00 PM ET; 11:00 AM CT; 10:00 AM MT; 9:00 AM PT; 8:00 AM AKST

As school reopens after a break for summer, our attention begins to focus on what needs to be accomplished before the end of the year. There are Boards immersed in strategic planning, new stakeholders requiring conversations and projects that have modified outcomes. Join your colleagues, new and old, on the September Coffee/Tea Chat with Dr. Chess. For one hour, take an opportunity to "go back to school" and consider approaches to successfully wrapping up a challenging year. Are there planning tools that can be shared, communication techniques that are particularly helpful or engagements for the new year that should be launched now? We'll see you Wednesday, "back at school" with a confirmed graduation in one hour! Call in details for the Chat were distributed on August 21 through a Save the Date Invitation – if you need the info, please contact Rebecca.
