From the Desk of Rebecca Davis, Ph.D.
I heard a story this past week about an art teacher and a little boy. The art assignment was to draw a story on a piece of paper and turn it in to the teacher. So, one little boy turned in a blank sheet of paper. The teacher looked at one side, blank, turned it over and looked at the other side, blank. He asked the little boy, so tell me about this drawing, what is it? The little boy responded that it is a cow eating grass. The teacher’s response, “Oh really, will where is the grass?” The little boy replied, “The cow ate it all up.” “So, I see,” said the teacher, “then where is the cow?” The little boy replied, “she went to look for more grass.”

November Coffee/Tea Chat with Mary Kay Chess, Ph.D.
Wednesday, November 20 @ 12:00 PM ET; 11:00 AM CT; 10:00 AM MT; 9:00 AM PT; 8:00 AM AKST
Welcome to November! We are beginning to wrap up the final quarter of 2013 and look ahead to opportunities in 2014. In the midst of the many changes that face us in creating plausible, sound responses to healthcare mandates, it is often easy to overlook resources that constantly support us. And, it is the Thanksgiving season! In our call, we will have a chance to identify and recognize resources in the unique communities we serve. These resources can be individuals, technology, or a spirit of relentless innovation. Often when we pause to notice "what is really working", we also uncover new approaches and solutions to challenges facing networks. We look forward to your perspectives and insights around "community resources" from networks across the United States! You should have the call in information in a Save the Date reminder for the Chat.

This program brings together key parts of a rural health care delivery system, particularly those entities that may not have collaborated in the past under a formal relationship. By working together, rural health providers and organizations can achieve efficiencies, increase capacity and improve the quality of essential health care services over a given geographic area.
