Meet New Member Greater Delta Alliance for Health's Mellie Bogani-Bridewell, M.S.
Mellie Boagni-Bridewell, MS is currently Executive Director of the Greater Delta Alliance for Health. Mellie is contracted to the Greater Delta Alliance for Health as the Executive Director through UAMS Center for Healthcare Enhancement & Development. Mellie has thirteen years of experience in community and organizational networking, program development, grant writing, and program implementation. Mellie has been a critical component in the development of the GDAH and is committed to implementing the organization’s goals and objectives. Her position involves providing general direction and accountability for all programs and projects of the Greater Delta Alliance for Health. Mellie also assists all member hospitals with individual grant applications for equipment needs and outreach projects as well as assists GDAH member hospitals with their community health needs assessments and implementation.
Ms. Bridewell has served as the Director of UAMS Delta AHEC South prior to taking the position full-time with the Greater Delta Alliance for Health and has an extensive background of working with community health networks and organizations. Mellie’s educational background includes a BA in English Literature from Spring Hill College and a Masters of Science from University of South Alabama. Mellie has served on many local organizations and in many leadership roles. She has served as a state commissioner on the Arkansas Rural Development Commission and served as Chairman in 2010.
The Greater Delta Alliance for Health (GDAH), Inc. is a non-profit, horizontal hospital organization comprised of eight, independently owned, Southeast Arkansas rural hospitals.

Monthly Wellness Column: Looking Up or Looking Down?
It’s February 4th which means, among other things, that January is already history. Did you know that January is named after Janus, the ancient Roman god of beginnings and transitions? He’s usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past.
So on January first we all made like Janus by saying goodbye to 2013 and looking to a new year of fresh beginnings and positive transitions. (The comedian George Burns said, “I look to the future because that’s where I’m going to spend the rest of my life.”)
A month ago we talked about giving ourselves the gift of a good start by deciding what’s important and setting goals that are consistent with what we value. By behaving with intention, we become mindful of our moment-by-moment opportunities to engage in behaviors that will enable us to reach those goals.
